The rare narrow-body where the official spec covers everyone: each seat is equipped with both USB and power outlets, and a 2025 economy review confirms it. No seatback screens, so board with your own entertainment charged. The USB connector isn't documented as USB-C — treat USB-C as unconfirmed.
Applies on all Qatar Airways flights. In June 2026 Qatar's Civil Aviation Authority made the same limits a country-level requirement, aligned with ICAO/IATA — so this is regulation, not just airline preference. Unusually traveler-friendly: there is no blanket use ban here — supervised in-flight use is allowed; only recharging the bank itself is prohibited.
On the 777s the economy AC outlets are under the seats, two shared between each three-seat block, and the A350-1000 is reported the same way. Neighbour diplomacy applies. The seatback USB is yours alone — so in Qatar Airways economy, a good cable strategy beats a plug strategy.
First-hand 787-8 reviews found a USB-A port under the screen and no mains socket — despite SeatGuru claiming otherwise — and the 787-9 upgrades the screen ports to USB-A plus USB-C without any review mentioning economy AC either. If your laptop has to survive a Doha-length sector in a 787, board it charged.
Where Qatar Airways fits a mains outlet it's a universal socket: Qsuite's takes UK, US, EU and Australian plugs as-is, and A380 economy passengers report the same universal type. But note what's missing — the original Qsuite has no USB-C and no wireless charging; those only exist officially on the 787-9 suites. The wireless-pad, 60W-USB-C Qsuite Next Gen was unveiled in 2024 and is still pre-launch, slipping into late 2026–2027.
Qatar Airways is not on the blanket in-flight ban list. You may charge a device from a power bank during non-critical phases, under your direct supervision, never from inside a bag or the overhead bin. What is banned at all phases is charging the bank itself — the seat's USB port won't legally refill it. Two banks max, each ≤100 Wh, cabin baggage only; the recalled Anker models are banned outright; and the airline's own advice is to use the seat power first.
With in-flight bank use banned, the seat outlet is your only air-side charge — and half the fleet doesn't guarantee one. So the bank leads for the gate and arrival, the GaN charger handles the outlets that do exist.
